JOHANNESBURG - The arrivals hall at O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg was a World Cup in microcosm. Mexican fans in sombreros, Italian supporters singing near the currency exchange, confident Brazilians wearing yellow and acting like they owned the place. And Paraguayans.
A throng of drivers, hustlers, tour guides and hotel reps held signs aloft, looking for arriving passengers they were charged with transporting or hoping to earn some business. Some of the signs were professionally done, others were pieces of bent cardboard with ball-point pen.
