It’s called “Dia de Los Inocentes,” and it’s the Hispanic equivalent of April Fool’s Day.
On Tuesday, U.S. national team forward Herculez Gomez introduced American soccer fans to the tradition and, in the process, demonstrated the growing power of Twitter as a news source.
A little after noon Eastern time, Gomez tweeted this:
“Firme con la MLS! Adios Mexico! Gracias por todo, era de lo mejores de tiempos!! Ciao”
