Totti intended to retire from the Azzurri after the end of the World Cup, but reneged on his decision and remained undecided on his future for over a year, and was never called up in the meantime. He made his retirement official on July 20, 2007, at the beginning of the new Serie A season in order to focus solely on club play with Roma. Italy coach Roberto Donadoni’s attempts to get Totti to change his mind for the remaining Euro 2008 qualifiers proved futile. He won’t be playing for Italy anymore.

Yes he will play in the 2010 world cup. The reason he didnt play in the Euro is because he was injured for 4 months!!
and he wouldnt play in the world cup if Donadoni would still be the coach of Italy. But since Marcello Lippi is the coach now he has decided he will play again for italy and with Lippi.

Ok, first of all, he was injured during the Champions League and his recovery was said to last at least 4 months which completely ruled out the Euro 2008 for him. He had already retired from International play in July 2007, but it was in part due to because Donadoni quickly isolated him and in a press conference said he didn’t know who Francesco Totti was. So yeah, it’s not official he won’t come back and Lippi just declared he won’t force him back, but has maintained contact with him, so there’s no telling what he might do. And no, he is not too old.

totti didnt play for italy because he was having problems with the coaching and did not get along with donadoni and didnt like his decisions, possibly if lippi returns he might come back to play for italy agian.

Not sure since of his injury. but most likely not ….he is only considering playing in seria A …
