NEW YORK - While Commissioner Don Garber meets with owners and mayors, entertains sponsors and joins announcers at halftime for a few minutes of face time, Todd Durbin spends each day knee deep in the nitty-gritty of Major League Soccer. He’s been with MLS since its founding and now, as executive VP-player relations and competition, is the man to see regarding player acquisition and contracts, labor relations and the development of the on-field product.
Durbin was instrumental during the collective bargaining agreement negotiations and now will play a key role in shaping the league under the new deal, which was signed just a few days before the 2010 season was scheduled to kick off.
