Eventually an author is going to write a book about the 2009-10 season for the Portsmouth FC. He or she certainly won’t be searching for material, Pompey’s season is almost too hard to believe.
On Saturday the financially stressed club was relegated from the Premier League. A day later Portsmouth punched a ticket into the FA Cup final by defeating Tottenham 2-0 in extra time at Wembley Stadium in London.
Coincidentally, Sunday’s win came against former manager Harry Redknapp — who guided the club to a triumph in the 2008 FA Cup, which some would say started Portsmouth’s trip down the road of financial ruin.
