Schellas Hyndman is as rough and tumble as they come.
The FC Dallas coach has been through knife fights, gang brawls, and some sanctioned violence as well — competitive mixed martial arts.
He has the scars to prove it. He’s crossed oceans in the bowels of a cargo ship and he’s faced down an abusive stepfather.
And he did it all before the age of 20.
Now, at 59, he’s facing a new challenge: Sunday’s MLS Cup Final in Toronto. But standing on the doorstep of a once-moribund franchise’s first championship shouldn’t be a big deal for a guy who’s a 10th degree black belt in Aiki Ju-Jutsu and voluntarily takes kicks to the crotch, right?
