Looking back at the 2010 World Cup more than three months later, there can be little doubt that the U.S. national team enjoyed considerable success in South Africa.

The squad topped its first-round group for the first time since 1930, nearly went through to the quarterfinals and brought a nation to its feet. A fan with an understanding of how far the program has come in such a short time really couldn’t have asked for more.

That being said, there are still improvements to be made before Brazil 2014. Fresh faces have to be incorporated into the group. The defense must be reinforced in order to avoid the unfortunate habit of conceding early goals. A go-to striker has to emerge. With these issues in mind, FanHouse offers three things we’d like to see happen in the national team’s upcoming matches against Poland (Saturday, 8 PM ET, Fox Soccer Channel) and Colombia (Oct. 12 ,8 PM ET, ESPN 2).
