During a Wednesday press conference addressing the district’s national report card grades, Detroit Public Schools Emergency Manager Roy Roberts noted that he had been in talks with the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office about the district’s growing truancy problem.

“We’ve been in talks with the prosecuting attorney,” Roberts said briefly. “We’re exploring every alternative.”

Attendance for the 2010-11 school year fell below the state minimum of 75 percent for 46 days. The state is reportedly deciding whether to penalize DPS for the truancy and how much.
