I’ve heard all kind of stories about rip off tickets and agency fees - is anybody just going to turn up and watch it in a bar?
Today on the Internet: Many people don’t do well at golf because they do not know the proper way to grip a golf club. Learn how to hold a golf club now!

Fly. And book your flight ticket now. UK to Johannesburg flights are over £1000 at the moment, and will only get more expensive. After the draw is made on Friday you’ll struggle to get a flight at all. Flying to a neighbouring country won’t be any advantage, as pretty much all flights to southern Africa go through Johannesburg anyway, and travelling overland from Nairobi, while possible, is not easy or quick. People will still go to South Africa to watch matches in bars, they always do, but not in anywhere near the numbers they would in Europe.

OK let me think. I’m going to go right from the top and answer this question from an English perspective. First Thing you must do is to check out FIFA’s Website for ticket allocation. All the matches for the first round have been drawn and you have a good idea of what ’spot’ they will get in the run up to the final (or more precisely, for England - up until they get knocked out at theQF stage). Check out the website: http://www.fifa.com/
As in most of these competitions, bulk tickets are sold to corporate sports companies who will charge you - yes you’ve guessed it - premium prices - but it will ensure that you get the tickets for the game. MAKE SURE THESE COMPANIES ARE REPUTABLE (you can Google “Company ‘A’ Ticket problems” for an idea as to whether other people have had issues before.
As for just going… well remember that South Africa is in the SAME TIMEZONE as the UK so all the matches will fall at brilliant UK times for the pub… it’s going to be 3pm, 6pm and 8pm or around that time (take in to account British Summertime). Well, if you want to go there without tickets to experience the ‘Atmosphere’ then just get on a plane and go! This website has a bit of information about the venues http://cheaperflightsworldwide.com/ but there are probably loads out there by now!
One thing to remember is that it is THE WINTER in South Africa during June so any thoughts of lounging on the beach in your shorts may have to be put to one side! Temperatures for Cape Town are 7-18 so it’s probably the same as a mild Summer in the UK.
As a side issue… If you fancy going on holiday to catch the atmosphere and want to give the UK a miss.. then why not think “Above the Line”? My friends and I went to South East Asia during the 2006 World Cup and had an absolutely Brilliant time! Travelling through Thailand, Loas and Vietnam whilst hooking up in a local bar for each evening to watch the game - they are mad footballing fans - and have no animosity towards other teams cheering in their bar. Plus there are loads of established ‘Euro Ethnic” bars that you can visit - we wandered into a Scandinavian Bar to watch Sweden play… You can’t do that in the UK! Plus there’s the added bonus that the weather’s great and the hotels are cheap. I would warn you though, that South of Koh Chang is very humid - so Phuket may be not the ideal place to go - but a trip to Chiang Mai (up in the mountains) is very sweet.
So I would suggest you think hard about your plans
• If you really want to go to South Africa 2010 http://www.fifa.com/
• To just go and travel to South Africa check out http://cheaperflightsworldwide.com/
• For good hotels try Hostelworld http://cheapestflightinternational.com/cheapestflight_budget.php
For total package tours carefully check the companies reputation. All the above links are what I’ve seen - there are many other companies out there that can supply you with the relevant information.
Hope this helps

Cheat, handle the ball. That should get you there!
People should be wary of going to South Africa, particularly if travelling over land. There are some very iffy countries to cross. Tourists to South Africa should think about things like car-jackings, which are rife in that country, robbery and murder. Travel with an official travel club or supporters’ club, stay in large groups. Get tickets from your national FA is possble or consult the FIFA website.

You have 3 options.
Go to Cairo - then fly from Cairo to Johannesburg will cost you less than 500 pounds return including tax. You want to use EgyptAir. Total cost around 600 pounds from all round.(including flight from UK - Cairo)
Risk your life for the thrill of adventure. Buy a camel in Morocco and ride.
Or hire a 4X4 and advertise for travel buddies online and share the cost. (Remember fuel is much cheaper in Africa.
Good Luck
